The suburb

Munbilla suburb

Our suburb, Munbilla, is a rural town and locality that is located in the Scenic Rim Region (Queensland, Australia). It takes its name from the former Munbilla railway station which was created in 1886 by the Queensland Railways Department using the Yuggera words mun (meaning much) and billa (meaning water) to mean a large lagoon. The big water was a large swamp nearby known as the Green Swamp. Today, all that is left is Mooroo Ougee Lagoon, a perennial waterhole in the north of the locality, Kents Lagoon is located in the western edge of the locality.

Currently, there are 93 people living in Munbilla (based on the 2021 census data). [1]
